McQueen on Broadway A new Play called "Rock the Line" has opened on Broadway written by Kathline Warnock and features McQueen’s single "Running out of things to Say" in the closing climatic sequence.
Warnock, who was formerly a Contributing Editor to ROCKRGRL magazine, and wrote pieces about women in music for BUST, Ms., Metal Maidens and
many others, is also a hardcore Joan Jett fan, or "Jetthead." "I always loved Joan Jett's music," Warnock said. "But I didn't get a chance to see her live until her Broadway show in the late '80s. Then, in the mid-90s, I sort of went off the deep end, and just started going to as many shows as I could, traveling all over the East, and to Las Vegas, California, and overseas
to Denmark, and Australia."
Along with getting to hear some kickass music, Warnock also began to make her reputation as a music journalist. She's proud of working with Jett's label,
Blackheart Records to write the liner notes for the Jett CD "Unfinished business," and to have several interviews with Blackheart personnel on the singer's official website
(www.joanjettbadrep.com). Musicians she has profiled include McQueen, Ronnie
Spector, Judy Collins, Cris Williamson, Janis Ian, Amy Ray, Melissa
Ferrick, Helen Wheels, Kim Shattuck (The Muffs) and many others.
Bands whose music is used in the play include McQueen, Sexpod, Helen Wheels, One Step Beyond and The
Botswanas.
In Rock the Line, seven hardcore fans meet in the parking lot of a club in a Rust Belt town to renew their faith in rock and roll and its patron saint,
Patti Roxx. Having traveled long and hard to be at the show, their love of her music is the best thing in most of their lives. But before the doors even open,
they must first face each other.
"It's inspired by life, but it holds together as a drama," Warnock said. "Even if you're not a rock fan, I hope you'll be able to jump into the story and care about the characters. And for good measure, there's a lot of swearing, fighting, kissing and loud music."
WHAT: ROCK THE LINE, a new play by Kathleen Warnock, directed by Steven McElroy. The story of seven hardcore fans who love rock and roll, and what happens on the day of the show.
WHERE: Emerging Artists Theatre’s Triple Threat Premiere, Theatre 5, 311 W. 43rd St., 5th Floor.
WHEN: Opens Thursday, Feb 9, at 7pm. Plays Thursdays at 7pm, Saturdays at 2pm, Sundays at 5pm through Feb 26.

McQUEEN- 'RUNNING OUT OF THINGS
TO SAY' CD SINGLE - No Front Teeth
For some reason I was expecting this band to sound like the SUNDAYS or the SMITHS and I don't know where I would have got that from but it's way off. for one, it's female fronted which I wasn't expecting and secondly, it's very vigorous and way more along the lines of US indie/alternative than UK indie. It's got some serious clout and sometimes reminiscent of HOLE, BABES IN TOYLAND or THE DISTILLERS. Sometimes there's a bit of a NIRVANA, SMASHING PUMPKINS edge, but I gotta say that I was really pleasantly surprised that this was dynamic rather than tormented and
angst-ridden. It's funny that I was so off-track.
